Current Projects

Dedicated Bus Lanes

Adding Bus Lanes to the B2B from Bayfair roundabout to Hewletts Rd where there is sufficient room.

More reliable bus service, faster travel times from Papamoa to Downtown. No need to use Links Ave

Use the bus stops on the Bayfair roundabout slip roads and passengers use the underpass to connect with Bayfair. For more info click here

Tsunami Evacuation Routes

Currently the Tsunami Evacuation Routes for Papamoa are incomplete and give a false sense of security. The Eastern Corridor Alliance is working on connecting the “phantom” evacuation routes with the new commuter cycleway to give continuity and easy routes to safety.

Papamoa East Interchange Bridge linking to Bell Rd for cycling and pedestrians.

Tauranga City Council is currently designing the PEI and bridge across the TEL which will give access for cars from the Sands commercial area and housing areas to/from the Tauranga Eastern Link (TEL) expressway. Amazingly there is no pedestrian/bike link to Bell Rd and onwards to Te Puke using this bridge. This link is also the only foot Tsunami evacuation route across the TEL for the thousands of people who will live and work in the Sands area. ECA is asking TCC to futureproof this bridge by creating a link through to Bell Rd. For more info click here
